Plurk is a pretty lively place ATM even with only 10k of users, the UI encourages that I think, Pownce's does not. Right now I'm placing a long bet on Jaiku FTW for more serious stuff and Plurk for the funs tuff, I think Twitter has lost it's mojo.

Twitter, Jaiku and Plurk, and Brightkite, it's about activity and there is no natural activity on Pownce, nice feature set but....Brightkite is the next to go probably.
